Merry Christmas!

Me in a mask next to the underwhelming Christmas display in Coal Drops Yard, which sums up the experience of Christmas 2020 rather nicely, I think.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone! Wishing you all a much better 2021 than 2020!

Due to Tier 3 coming just as I got out of self-isolation (and now Tier 4, which seems to just be lockdown by another name), which put a stop to any more museum visits in 2020, and me just needing a little break, frankly, I will not be posting next week (which will be the first time since I’ve started blogging that I’ve skipped a week), but I will be back at some point in January. I promise this is not the end of Diverting Journeys, just a little blogging holiday since I can’t take a proper holiday right now (though I do have two and a half weeks off of work thanks to my new employer giving us an extra four days of leave over Christmas, which is the longest break I’ve had since last Christmas, and much needed it is too, even though I can’t go anywhere)! See you soon!

  1. Merry-belated-Christmas! I hope it was a good one and that the New Year will be far better and brighter than this bastard-ass year. And I’m so glad to hear you’re getting a proper break! I’m off too and looking forward to finally catching up on all I’ve missed.

    1. Welcome back! I was worried you had permanently stopped blogging (though having read your recent post, I can certainly understand why you needed a break). Merry belated Christmas to you too, and a very happy New Year! Sounds like you very much deserve a nice 2021 after your 2020!

      1. Thank you! I’m glad to be back – this is a good place to be and I missed it all. The book writing took up so much of my time last year (and still a bit now) that it was hard to carve out time for my own blog posts. Then, after losing Corrina, I just couldn’t find any focus. But it’s getting somewhat easier now and I feel I’m starting to get some of my old rhythm back. Anyway …
Happy New Year to you! May 2021 be brighter for us all.

  2. Happy Christmas Jessica, hope you had a lovely few days even with the restrictions of tier three or four. Not the same is it but you just have to make the most of the situation I guess. Have a good New Year too.
